Musical Glasgow Cathedral Wedding with a Trades Hall Reception

Jennifer & Tim’s Glasgow Cathedral wedding was a musical feast, followed by a Trades Hall reception with family, friends and lots of dancing!

“Fotomaki were recommended to us by our venue’s wedding manager and we are so glad she did. They were utterly brilliant, every step of the way Sarah made us feel at ease and all her communications before the day were prompt and concise. They captured the day perfectly from all the little touches to the big photos – especially the confetti!! We didn’t even notice they were there for most of it but they caught all the moments. We can’t thank them enough for our beautiful wedding photos which capture our most perfect day. I look through them now and can’t stop smiling. 100% would recommend. Thank you!”

Both Tim & Jenni are freelance musicians so I knew this wedding was going to have music at its core, and it did indeed! Jenni is a piano teacher and is also a pianist for theatre productions and Tim is an opera singer, amazing! Tim has sung in the Glasgow Cathedral choir for a number of years so it was the natural choice for their wedding ceremony venue.

Preparations

Jenni was getting ready at The Spires, apartments handily right next to Trades Hall where the reception was to be. The apartment was busy with family, friends and hair & makeup. I love arriving at this time as no one pays any attention to me! Too many things going on, I can just blend right into the background and catch all the laughs and champagne bottles popping.

Tim and his lads were getting ready at their apartment in town, my second shooter Lauren was on hand to document the smiles and whisky shots! Always having two shooters in our Big Adventure wedding package you get the best of both worlds for prep photos. And we’re just like flies on the wall, documenting but never getting in the way or meddling – you’ve got enough on your plates!

The Ceremony

The best things about their Glasgow Cathedral wedding ceremony was that the minister is also a personal friend and so really put them at ease during the ceremony! He had everyone laughing which I’m sure helped ease those nerves.

Music again was woven through everything, having choral and organ music during the ceremony. The musicians were friends of our lovely couple and were guests at the wedding, which made it even more personal. Tim’s best man Dom wowed with an opera solo during the ceremony also.

As Tim & Jenni left their Glasgow Cathedral wedding the tourists were applauding and congratulating them and they stepped out into a whirlwind of confetti! It was fabulous!!

The Reception

Trades Hall was their city-centre wedding reception venue. Just a short jaunt from Glasgow Cathedral it was the perfect location for their post-nuptial knees up. At the drinks reception, they had a live pianist and their good friend Christine Bovill singing some of their favourite jazz standards. It was wonderful to listen to as we photographed.

We managed to sneak Tim & Jenni out for a wee wander around the city centre to have some photographs of the two of them. It’s also a nice time to just be alone together (somewhat) for the first time that day! The best part about Glasgow weddings is that EVERYONE will say congratulations as you walk by, it’s really heart-warming!!

Later on in the evening as the sun was setting we snuck them out again for 10 minutes and headed to a car park roof to get some epic images of them. Also a good breather as by then the ceilidh had really kicked off and everyone could do with a little fresh air!!

Enjoy the feast of music & merriment below.
